Q2 Hourly Labour Costs Up 9.9% Y/Y
September 21 (BTA) - Preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute for the second quarter of 2020 show that the total hourly labour costs rose by 9.9 per cent compared to a year earlier. The total hourly labour costs increased by 10.7 per cent in industry, 9.1 per cent in services and 6.0 per cent in construction.
A breakdown by economic activity shows that the highest annual growth in total labour costs was recorded in real estate activities by 23.3 per cent, education by 18.5 per cent and mining and quarrying by 13.8 per cent.
In the structure of total labour costs in the second quarter of 2020 compared to a year earlier, wage and salary costs per hour worked grew by 9.7 per cent, while other (non-wage) costs rose by 10.9 per cent.
Compared to a year earlier, the increase in wage and salary costs in the second quarter of 2020 ranged from 24.1 per cent in real estate activities to 3.4 per cent in accommodation and food service activities. RI/DD
