Electricity Production in Bulgaria Down by 7.90% Since January Y/Y

December 8 (BTA) - Electricity production in Bulgaria  
dropped by 7.90 per cent between January 1 and December 6, 2020,
 compared to the same period of last year, the Electricity
System Operator (ESO) said in a press release Tuesday, reporting
 on this country's energy balance. The electricity production in
 the January 1-December 6, 2020 period was 37,655.814 MWh,
compared to 40,886,896 MWh during the like period last year.
 
Electricity consumption in Bulgaria amounted to 34,356,060 MWh
between January 1 and December 6, 2020, down by 2.74 per cent
compared to the like period in 2019.

Between January 1 and October 18, 2020 compared to the same
period of 2019, the balance between electricity export and
import was negative, minus 40.70 per cent.
 
The share of base load power plants was also negative, minus
9.95 per cent. These plants produced 31,441,538 MWh of
electricity between January 1 and December 6 this year, compared
 to 34,916,066 MWh during the like period in 2019.

Year-on-year, the share of renewable energy sources grew by
10.73 per cent in the transmission network and by 6.35 per cent
in the distribution network, and the share of hydroelectricity
increased by 0.48 per cent. RI/ZH
