Car Sales in Bulgaria Drop by Nearly 37% in 2020

January 19 (BTA) - Car sales in Bulgaria in 2020
have dropped by 36.8 per cent, according to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the worst crisis in history
of the sector. All markets in Europe reported a double-digit decline in 2020, according to ACEA. In Spain the decline was 32.3 per cent, in Italy - 28 per cent, and in France - 25 per cent. In Germany, the decline amounted to 19 per cent.

In December, sales of new cars in Bulgaria dropped by 40.3 per cent, according to the official website of ACEA.

In Europe, sales of new cars in December decreased by 3.3 per cent compared to the same month last year, but there are wide differences in performance in various markets. Italy and Spain again have double-digit declines, while in Germany sales increased by 10 per cent, and in Spain the figure remained unchanged.

German carmaker Volkswagen has reduced its market share by 3 per cent, while PSA Peugeot and Fiat Chrysler, which officially announced their merger on Monday, and Toyota have managed to improve their positions. NV/DT
