Warsaw, February 22 (BTA) - Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Tourism Minister Mariyana Nikolova inaugurated a Bulgarian tourism representation in Warsaw on Monday, Nikolova's Ministry said in a press release. The office was opened jointly with Andrzej Gut-Mostowy, Secretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Development and Plenipotentiary of the Prime Minister for the promotion of the Polish brand. Polish Tourism Organisation President Rafal Szlachta also attended the ceremony.
"By pooling their efforts, the two countries will be able to enhance the existing bilateral cooperation but also to launch new joint projects, such as creating a common tourism business network, investment programmes for the development of the tourist product, human resources and exchange of information, Nikolova said.
The Bulgarian Tourism Minister noted that Poland is among the top ten countries whose nationals visit Bulgaria as tourists. In 2019, Polish citizens made 420.980 tourist trips to Bulgaria. Over 85,000 Polish tourists spent nights at accommodation establishments in Bulgaria between January 1 and December 20, 2020, most of them on seaside holidays or on business trips.
Before opening the Bulgarian tourism representation, Nikolova and Gut-Mostowy discussed the standing of the tourism industry during the pandemic and the opportunities for bilateral cooperation in tourism, the Bulgarian Tourism Ministry reported.
The Secretary of State said that Bulgaria is a very popular destination with Polish tourists, travel to the heart of the Balkans are part of the programmes offered by Polish tour operators, and the Polish air carrier's direct flights contribute to the interest in visiting Bulgaria.
As part of her visit, Nikolova also unveiled a photo exhibition at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw, the press release added. NV/MY
