Organized Tourist Trips in Bulgaria
Resume on March 1,
Trips Abroad Resume on April 1

Sofia, February 24 (BTA) - As of March 1, tourist trips can be organized in Bulgaria, and tourist trips abroad will resume as of April 1, BTA learned on Wednesday from the Future for Tourism Association (FTA). The decision was made during a meeting of FTA and other branch organizations in the tourism sector with Health Minister Kostadin Angelov.

Organized tourist trips in the country and abroad were banned by order of the Health Minister on November 27, 2020.

The people employed in the tourism sector will be vaccinated en masse before the start of the summer season, it also transpired at the meeting. Organized trips will take place in compliance with antiepidemic measures, following a protocol proposed by the branch.

FTA has already put forward its protocol on safety measures in the context of COVID-19 which focuses both on tourism employees and customers. The document was presented at the Tourism Ministry, and it includes safety and security guarantees related to customers visiting the offices of travel agents and tour operators, transfers, bus and airplane schedules. The protocol complies with the requirements of WHO and Bulgaria's health authorities, and it includes a range of instruments for collaboration and execution that provide security for the clients of legitimate tour operators and travel agents, FTA pointed out.

The organization hopes to see the protocol approved by the Health Ministry and enforced by the regional health inspectorates across Bulgaria.
