April 9 (BTA) - In a video mesage, Bulgarian actress
Maria Bakalova thanked for being presented an honorary Askeer,
the national theatre award, as a rising international star and
ambassador of Bulgarian acting. The decision on the prize was
made public on Thursday by the Bulgarian theatre awards
foundation.

At the young age of 24, Bakalova gained international
recognition for her appearance in the 2020 "Borat Subsequent
Moviefilm." The film has earned her the Critics' Choice Movie
Award for Best Supporting Actress and nominations for an Academy
 Award, the BAFTA Film Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, and the
Screen Actors Guild Awards. She is the first Bulgarian to be
nominated for these honours. 

In the exclusive video uploaded on BTA's website, 
Bakalova says that theatre will always remain her first big love. "I'm elated
to be recognized by the Askeer Foundation," the actress says,
adding that she is deeply touched by the support. "Being a
Bulgarian actress, it's important for me that we support the
idea of progress and world success for many more Bulgarian
actors, theatre and cinema," she says.

The actress also thanks the people who supported her in her
