Israeli Embassy, Daycare Centre to Plant Trees for Earth Day
April 16 (BTA) - The Israeli Embassy in Sofia will mark Earth Day by planting trees together with people with mental disabilities attending the St. Marina daycare centre from 11:00 pm on April 19, the Embassy said.
The event will be attended by guests from Sofia City Hall, scientists, artists, journalists and NGOs.
Israel sets great store by the protection of the environment and natural resources, and being an innovative nation, it has developed various technologies addressing the impact of climate change, the Embassy said. But new technologies are not the only key to saving this plant. It is essential to raise environmental awareness and encourage more and more people to have a responsible attitude to environmental protection.
This initiative will send a message to the participants in an international virtual event, to be unveiled by Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi at 6:00 pm on Earth Day, April 22, the Embassy said. A video from the joint initiative and brief addresses by leading figures and institutions involved in environmental protection in Bulgaria will be broadcast during the event, which will bring together people from all continents.
The online meeting will include a virtual exhibition featuring technological solutions developed in Israel to fight climate change. They include special glass for solar panels, home bio energy for small and large projects, reforestation technologies, 3D printed meat and other alternative proteins, and adaptive solutions for water consumption at home and in agriculture.
