April 2021 Consumer Confidence Indicator
Up 2.7 Percentage Points from January
- Statistics

Sofia, May 7 (BTA) - In April 2021, the total consumer confidence indicator increased by 2.7 percentage points compared to its January level, Bulgaria's National Statistical Institute reported on Friday.

The increase stood at 2.4 percentage points for the urban population and at 2.7 percentage points for the rural population.

Consumers' opinions about the overall economic development for the last 12 months and their expectations of the next 12 months are less negative than three months before.

Expectations of unemployment in the next 12 months shift towards more moderate opinions, resulting in a 9.2 percentage point decline in the balance indicator.

Consumers' assessments of changes in their households' financial situation over the past 12 months and expectations of the next 12 months are less favourable than those registered by the previous survey.

At the same time, consumers continue to think that consumer prices have been rising over the last 12 months, with their inflationary expectations remaining the same for the next 12 months. In April, however, the survey registered a slightly more positive attitude in the plans of the urban population to spend on consumer durables, such as a car, a house or a weekend house, during the next 12 months.
