Sofia, May 10 (BTA) - According to preliminary data, the seasonally adjusted Industrial Production Index increased by 3.8 per cent in March 2021 compared with February 2021, the National Statistical Institute reported on Monday. According to preliminary seasonally adjusted data, the turnover in retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles, at constant prices increased by 0.8 per cent in March 2021, month-on-month, and construction grew by 1.2 per cent from February 2021 and by 11.2 per cent from March 2020.
Industrial Production
The working day adjusted Industrial Production Index rose by 6.4 per cent per cent in March 2021 from March 2020.
The working day adjusted Industrial Production Index in May rose on an annual basis by 8.2 per cent in manufacturing and by 5.5 per cent in mining and quarrying and fell by 1.5 per cent in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply.
In manufacturing, the following economic activities showed a more significant year-on-year increase: manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (47 per cent), other manufacturing (37.3 per cent), manufacture of furniture (32 per cent), manufacture of other transport equipment (30.4 per cent), and manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (24.2 per cent).
Major decreases were registered in the manufacture of beverages (36.3 per cent), the repair and installation of machinery and equipment (17.3 per cent), the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (8.9 per cent), and the manufacture of tobacco products (6.5 per cent).
Retail Trade
In March 2021, the working day adjusted turnover in retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles grew by 17.3 per cent from March 2020.
Year-on-year, the turnover increased in the retail trade in nonfood products, except fuel (34 per cent) and in the retail trade in automotive fuel in specialized stores (24.8 per cent), while the retail trade in food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 2.3 per cent.
A more significant growth in the retail sale turnover of non-food products except fuel was registered in: the retail sale of textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods in specialized stores (by 131.3 per cent), the retail sale of computers, peripheral units and software; telecommunications equipment (by 70.8 per cent), the retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (by 45 per cent); and the retail sale of audio and video equipment; hardware, paints and glass; electrical household appliances (by 31.9 per cent).
Construction
According to preliminary data, in March 2021 the seasonally adjusted construction production index was 1.2 per cent above the level of February 2021.
