EC Provides EUR 75.9 Mln to Bulgaria in Support of Poor People, Distance Learning
May 12 (BTA correspondent Nikolay Jeliazkov) - The European Commission has approved the modification of operational programmes (OPs) under REACT-EU to provide 75.9 million euro to Bulgaria to help tackle the effects of the pandemic.
The Bulgarian programme for the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived will receive an extra 19.9 million euro in 2021 to provide daily warm meals to 50,000 people from vulnerable groups living in poverty.
In addition, Bulgaria's OP Science and Education for Smart Growth, co-financed by the European Social Fund and the European Regional Development Fund, will be topped up with 56 million euro to support distance learning. At least 10 per cent of students and teachers will receive laptops or tablets and 30 per cent of teachers will receive training in online teaching. NV/DD
