1,000 Wines to Be
Presented at Balkan
Festival in Sofia

Sofia, June 11 (BTA) - About 1,000 wines from Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, the Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey will be presented at the 10th Balkans International Wine Competition and Festival in Sofia between June 17 and 19, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry reported.

The festival will be held in a specially built Wine Town in front of the NDK convention centre. The so-called Golden Marquee, where the prize winners of the 10th Balkans International Wine Competition in Skopje will be on display, is expected to attract the greatest attention.

An award ceremony, known as the Balkan Wine Oscars, will be held on an outdoor stage in Wine Town. The awards will include a Grand Trophy and a Best Balkan Winery.

Bulgarian saxophone player Mike Sax will perform on the opening day of the festival. Visitors will be able to sample food of various cultures. Balkan music performed by the Vivo Montana Brass Band and opera highlights delivered by the Euro Atlantic Art Foundation are planned for later in the festival. The foundation's mission is to support socially disadvantaged children and young people as well as kids with special educational needs who have talent for art. NV/VE
