New Car Sales in Bulgaria Up by 76.5% in May Y/Y
June 17 (BTA) - A year after the collapse of the car
market as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, new car
registrations in Europe continue to mark significant growth,
shows report by the Association of European Automobile
Manufacturers on Thursday.
Sales of new passenger cars in the EU increased by more than 50
per cent in May compared to the previous year. In Bulgaria, new
car sales increased by 76.5 per cent in May.
In the first five months of the year, new cars in the EU
increased by a third year-on-year.
There were a total of 900,000 new car registrations in the EU
in May 2021, but this is still well below the pre-crisis level
of 1.2 million (May 2019). The most significant car sales
increase was observed in Spain (by 177.8 per cent), followed by
France (by 46.4 per cent), Italy ( by 43.0 per cent) and
Germany (by 37.2 per cent).
At the beginning of the year, there was still a decline, but
from March onwards car sales began to sharply increase. RI/DT
