BTA to Hold 16th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media at Rila Monastery

June 28 (BTA) - After a year's break caused by the pandemic, the Bulgarian News Agency is resuming the annual World Meeting of Bulgarian Media and the 16th edition will be held at Rila Monastery in southern Bulgaria in October. The topic of the meeting will be "Media and Truth". There will also be a programme on the sidelines in the southwestern city of Kyustendil, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev told a news conference at the BTA Press Club Monday.

Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Bulgaria's last serving monarch and former Prime Minister, has been invited to open the forum.

Saxe-Cobrg-Gotha was prime minister when BTA started holding the annual meetings of Bulgarian news media abroad. The first meeting was held between May 23 and 25, 2005 in Sofia and that was followed by 14 editions in more Bulgarian cities, Chicago, Rome, Madrid, Vienna, Amsterdam, Bucharest, Bosilegrad and Caribrod (Dimitrovgrad) in Serbia, Athens, Prague, Chisinau, Skopje and Tirana.

At the Rila Monastery meeting, the State Institute for Culture will present an exhibition titled "Miraculous icons and holy relics in the Balkans"

The place and topic of the 16th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media were announced after a presentation of a book, "Rila monastery in modern times (1944-2019)". Politics, ideology, faith" at the BTA National Press Club by the author, Maria Zlatkova and the abbot of Rila monastery, Eulogios, Bishop of Adianopolis. /RY/BR
