Counter-corruption Commission Files Motions for Injunctions Worth Some Lv 400 Mln in Jan-June 2021
July 28 (BTA) - The Counter-corruption and Unlawfully
Acquired Assets Forfeiture Commission (CUAAFC) has adopted a
report for the period from January 1, .2021 to June 30,.2021
regarding corruption prevention, public register, conflict of
interest, forfeiture of unlawfully acquired assets, management
of secured and forfeited assets and international activity, the
Commission said on Wednesday.
The Commission adopted 1,931 decisions related to the forfeiture
of unlawfully acquired assets. A hundred and ten motions for
injunctions were filed for claims worth of 67,474,750.30 leva
with assets worth a total of 20,447,570.75 leva. Motions for
forfeiture of unlawfully acquired assets have been submitted
before Bulgarian district courts worth 397,566,618.94 leva.
A total of 17 judgments of Bulgarian courts were enforced,
awarding a total of 3,844,188.24 leva under motions filed by the
Commission.
Proceedings on 46 case-files have been launched upon reception
of 121 alerts for conflict of interest. The rest have either
been closed for lack of grounds, or have been united with
already existing proceedings. Financial sanctions totaling
268,650.35 leva have been imposed for confirmed conflict of
interest.
A total of 533 senior public officials were reported to the
Commission for failing to submit a statement for property and
interests or did so after the deadline. A decision to check for
unlawfully acquired assets was taken for 243 of them, the rest
had failed to comply due to objective circumstances. One hundred
notices for administrative violations were served, followed by
51 injunctions with fines totaling 21,000 leva paid in 14 of the
cases.
