First Video Lessons in Bulgarian Sign Language to be Launched in E-education Platform

August 16 (BTA) - For the first time in Bulgaria there will be video lessons to support students who use sign language. The Prosveta publishing group has started shooting videos, which will be part of the educational platform for e-education in the section for free educational materials and will be used freely as early as this autumn, the publisher said.

The National Association of Sign Language Translators in Bulgaria is a partner of the project.

"We are extremely excited that for the first time in Bulgaria the teaching material will be presented in Bulgarian sign language, and this is an important prerequisite for improving the quality of education for students with hearing impairments," said representatives of the Association.

Until now, this country lacked appropriate educational resources for school-age children who need access to information through sign language.

Each new video tutorial with sign translation will be uploaded to e-education as soon as it is ready.

The initiative has received support from the Union of the Deaf in Bulgaria and the Association of Parents of Children with Hearing Impairment. LN/DT
