Bulgaria Down Seven Places
in World Digital
Competitiveness Ranking 2021

Sofia, October 1 (BTA) - Bulgaria ranks 52nd out of 64 countries in the World Digital Competitiveness Ranking 2021, down from its 45th place in 2020, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) said Friday. A drop was registered in all three main factors of digital competitiveness (knowledge, technology, and future readiness) and in eight out of nine sub-factors (talent, training and education, scientific concentration, capital, technological framework, adaptive attitudes, business agility, and IT integration).

Despite Bulgaria's drop by seven places compared to 2020, this year the country performed well in some of the sub-factors, the BCCI notes.

The BCCI continues its partnership with the Institute for Management Development (IMD) through its participation in a second digital competitiveness study. The World Digital Competitiveness Ranking produced by the IMD World Competitiveness Center measures the capacity and readiness of 64 economies to adopt and explore digital technologies as a key driver for economic transformation in business, government and wider society.

The IMD is an independent academic institution with Swiss roots and global reach, founded 75 years ago with the main goal to develop leaders who transform organizations and contribute to society, the BCCI recalls. The IMD has been ranked in the Top 3 of the annual FT's Executive Education Global Ranking for the last nine consecutive years.
