3.6 Point Earthquake Epicentred Near Samokov
November 25 (BTA) - An earthquake measuring 3.6 points on
the Richter Scale and epicentred 7 km northwest of Samokov (38
km from Sofia) was registered at 12:13 a.m., the National
Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography (NIGGG) with the
Bulgarian Academy of Sciences reported in a press release
Thursday. The tremor was felt in the area of Samokov and some
parts of Sofia.
An earthquake measuring 2.5 points on the Richter Scale was
registered in the same area earlier in the day.
Onn Thursday morning, the NIGGG reported that an earthquake
measuring 3.1 points on the Richter Scale and epicentred in the
area of Velingrad (90 km from Sofia) was registered at 11:33
p.m. on Wednesday. The tremor was felt in the area of Draginovo
village and Velingrad (Southern Bulgaria). A series of weak
earthquakes are being registered in this area since November 15,
the NIGGG recalled.
