December 14 (BTA) - Customs officers found 58.766 kg of
heroin in a Bulgarian-registered car. It is the largest amount
of heroin seized at the Lesovo checkpoint (Southeastern
Bulgaria) in the last five years, the Customs Agency said
Tuesday.
The car was entering Bulgaria from Turkey, driven by a Bulgarian
citizen. The driver and his companion stated that they had
nothing to declare. During an inspection, however, customs
officials found 114 packages of heroin worth more than 2 million
leva.
In another case, 31 kg of marijuana were found during a customs
inspection at the distribution base of a logistics company. The
shipment was being sent from Italy to Greece.
