Production, Import-Export Balance   of Electricity in Bulgaria Increase in 2022, Y/Y

January 11 (BTA) - Electricity production in Bulgaria
increased by 28.69 per cent in the period between January 1 and
9, 2022, compared to this time last year, showed the latest
energy balance operational data report of the Electricity System
 Operator (ESO), posted on the ESO webpage on Tuesday. From the
beginning of 2022 until January 9, electricity production
totalled 1,375,819 MWh against 1,069,110 MWh during the same
period of 2021.  

Electricity consumption increased by 2.02 per cent from this
time last year, reaching 1,016,398 MWh against 996,302 MWh in
2021.

The import-export balance increased by 393.66 per cent from the
like period of 2021.

The baseload power plants increased participation in the
electricity output by 30.69 per cent year on year. Between
January 1 and January 9, 2022, they produced 1,180,497 MWh of
electricity, up from 903,315 MWh during the same period in 2021.

The reporting period saw an increased share of renewable energy
sources in the transmission network by 15.45 per cent and the
distribution network by 21.30 per cent year on year.

Electricity produced by water power plants increased by 17.37
per cent compared to this time last year. RY/YV/LN
