Sofia, January 26 (BTA) - In December 2021, 52 per cent of the managers of tourist accommodation establishments participating in the monthly survey of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) offered their clients alternative periods to use their bookings. A total of 51.6 per cent offered a discount on their package of services, and 35.5 per cent offered a discount on overnight stays, the NSI reported here on Wednesday.
Last month, 23.9 per cent of the managers gave their employees paid leave, 14 per cent placed them on unpaid leave, 8.2 per cent switched to part-time work, 8 per cent made personnel cuts, 3.1 per cent reduced salaries, and 2.1 per cent made their employees work from home.
Some 17 per cent of accommodation establishments took advantage of the government's measures in support of employers amid the COVID-19 situation.
In December of 2021, 41.5 per cent of the respondents registered no change in revenues compared to the previous month, 22.9 per cent registered an increase, while 35.6 per cent registered a decrease.
Asked about their expectations for January, 45.1 per cent projected that they will be able to cover "up to 50 per cent" of their expenditures with own resources, 31.4 per cent expect to cover "up to 100 per cent", while 23.5 per cent expect to fail to cover their expenditures with own resources.
Asked about their future short-term activity, 46.1 per cent believe that they will continue working, 37.5 per cent that they will continue working at a reduced capacity, 13.2 per cent believe they will close temporarily, while 1.7 per cent believe they will shut down permanently. DS/KK
