World-renowned Mime Paolo Nani
Expected for First Tour of Bulgaria
in March
Sofia, February 3 (BTA) - World-renowned Italian mime Paolo Nani will tour Bulgaria for the first time in March, presenting his performance "The Letter" in Sofia and Plovdiv, said the organizers.
Nani is an actor, director, mime, clown and instructor, whose work has taken him to over 40 countries around the world. "The Letter" has gained immense popularity since 1992.
In the pantomime, the mime tells the same story in 15 different ways - as a drunk, pretending he is in a silent film, with no hands, backwards, obscenely - without uttering a single word. Nani plays games and springs surprises, directly involving the audience in the action.
The performance has won the prestigious European Comedy Award and the Audience Award of the Festival Santo Andre. The Italian daily "La Repubblica" called it "a distillation of mastery, theatrical wisdom, technique and inventiveness."
"The Letter" will be staged at Theatro in Sofia on March 4 and at Hand Theatre in Plovdiv on March 6. Also in Plovdiv, Nani will conduct a three-day workshop for 20 Bulgarian actors. The event is sponsored by the National Culture Fund. RY/NZ/LG//
